Because right now some things matter more than politics…

We choose a great local restaurant that could use a combination of a little business and some good publicity.
We match that restaurant with a local organization that’s doing heroic work serving the public during the current crisis.
We collect modest donations from neighbors like you to cover the cost of a hearty, well-deserved catered meal from the restaurant for some of the special people who have been serving us so well.  Everybody’s a little better off during a very challenging time.
Then we do it again, based on your input, with another great restaurant and another awesome community contributor.

PAST TAKEOUTS

ITALIAN CUISINE FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS

It was an honor to recognize the medical staff at Kindred Hospital in Brea with a delicious lunch from Alza Osteria. Kindred Hospital is a transitional care facility that offers extended care. These healthcare workers have been heroes on the frontline throughout the pandemic, providing care for patients and paying the ultimate sacrifice.

PIZZA FOR GROCERY WORKERS

For our eighth “Takeout,” we honored the incredible essential worker heroes that have kept shelves stocked and families fed during the pandemic. These frontline employees at Albertsons and Stater Bros. in Chino Hills, and at CVS Pharmacy in Diamond Bar are UFCW Local 1428 members. We treated them to a pizza lunch to show our gratitude for their hard work.

LUNCH FOR HEALTHCARE HEROES

Our seventh “Takeout” was dedicated to the incredible team at UCI Health, a multi-specialty medical center in Yorba Linda. These healthcare professionals continue to deliver top-of-the-line, compassionate treatment during the pandemic, so we honored them with a delicious lunch catered from Isla Cuban Kitchen & Bar in La Palma and Pepe’s Mexican restaurant in Fullerton.

A MEAL FOR GROCERY WORKERS

It was an honor to recognize the incredible UFCW-324 grocery staff of the Buena Park Stater Bros for our sixth takeout. These essential workers work hard to serve us on the frontlines everyday, and show our gratitude we catered a delicious lunch from Burrito Brothers in La Habra and Joe’s Gourmet Sandwiches in Cypress.

LUNCH FOR CHILDCARE WORKERS

The Pomona Valley/Diamond Bar YMCA Early Learning Center was the recipient of our fifth drive. While the YMCA facilities are closed, they have kept their childcare center open for essential worker families. We raised $450 to provide the staff with a meal from Fusion 2 Any 1 and dessert from Tenju Tea House.

BREAKFAST FOR NURSES

Our fourth drive was the most ambitious yet. We raised over $1,000 to feed over 500 nurses at Kaiser Permanente’s Anaheim Medical Center with breakfast from 5th Ave. Bagelry in Buena Park. It was wonderful to support a local business while at the same time recognize the brave healthcare staff keeping us safe on the frontlines.

LUNCH FOR FULLERTON FIREFIGHTERS

For our third delivery, we surpassed $450 in contributions to provide the brave heroes of the Fullerton Fire Department with a delicious meal catered from Poncho’s Tacos and Zombee Donuts. We wanted to show our gratitude to our first responders, and to recognize two incredible Fullerton restaurants serving up delicious food.

FOOD FOR HUMANS & PETS

We successfully completed our second drive to raise $300 to bring a takeout lunch to the wonderful staff and animals of Priceless Pet Rescue in Chino Hills. Along with providing a meal to their volunteers, we were able to bring business to Luchador Brewing Co., and ordered their “Survival Taco Boxes.” For our furry friends, we brought pet food from Kahoots Feed and Pet Store.

BREAKFAST FOR OFFICERS

Our first takeout exceeded our goal to raise $200, which we used to provide the brave men and women of the La Palma Police Department with a delicious breakfast, courtesy of Fullerton-favorite Bagel Bistro. This drive was our simple way of saying “thank you” to our local heroes on the front lines, and to contribute to a small business in this time of need.
